Volleyball Trio Earns NAIA Scholar-Athletes Honors Lindsey Wilson College senior Kayla Koerber and juniors Angela Mlachnik and Andrea Taylor were among 392 volleyball student-athletes to be named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes, NAIA officials announced on Friday. The award is reserved to those student-athletes that have achieved at least a junior academic standing and maintained a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Koerber earns her second NAIA Scholar-Athlete award while Mlachnik and Taylor earn their first national academic honor. All three student-athletes were named Academic All Mid-South Conference earlier this season. Koerber is an English education major from Floyds Knobs, Ind.. She finished her playing career with 618 kills and 248 blocks in 413 sets. For her play this season, Koerber earned All Mid-South Conference honorable mention. Mlachnik is a nursing major from Musego, Wis. Mlachnik set season highs on the court in service aces (20) and digs (142) in 2011. Taylor is a media studies major from Louisville, Ky. She earned all-conference and AVCA Southeast Region honors this season while compiling 1,131 assists and 237 digs. She ranks fourth on the program's all-time assists list with 2,170 career assists. The trio helped Lindsey Wilson finish the season with a 31-3 record. The Blue Raiders captured the program's first MSC regular season and tournament titles and made their first trip to the NAIA National Tournament during the season.
