LWC Athletics raises $1,120 for Dakota Meyer scholarship fund Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Duane Bonifer Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Director Willis Pooler, presented a facsimile check Thursday morning, September 29, 2011, to Sgt. Dakota Meyer for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. LWC raised $1,120 at the Saturday night, September 24, 2011, LWC-Campbellsville (KY) University football game, played at Blue Raider Stadium in Columbia, KY. Meyer has partnered with the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation to raise $1 million by the Foundation's 50th anniversary on May 28, 2012. Meyer has also issued a "Challenge to America" to match his efforts and raise an additional $1 million to honor Marines by educating their children. The challenge allows Americans to help wounded Marines from all conflicts - especially the past 10 years - and forever change their lives by investing in a Marine student's future. A native of Southcentral Kentucky, Meyer was awarded the Medal of Honor earlier this month by President Obama. - DUANE BONIFER.
