To honor Janice Holt Giles' and Henry Giles' literary and architectural legacy, The Giles Society was formed in 1996. To carry out the goals of the Society, it established itself as a nonprofit organization and placed the Giles' log home on the National Register of Historic Homes.

To enrich the lives of our membership and non-members, the Giles Society hosts presentations, readings of Kentucky writers, workshops, and arts and crafts displays.

Programs for 2009 are:
  • May 9, 2009: Plant exchange
  • September 12, 2009: Kentuckians Reading Kentuckians
  • October 3, 2009: Arts and Crafts Festival
A pottery workshop for young people is planned for some time in June.

he program committee continues to develop new programs. Visit our web site www.gilessociety.org for updates.
