Kentuckians Reading Kentuckians is tomorrow at Giles House

REUNIONS
EVENTS
JANICE HOLT GILES

Big Adair County event scheduled for 10:00amCT tomorrow morning, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008

By Jan Sparkman, Giles Society Public Affairs Director

It's time once again to think about Kentuckians Reading Kentuckians, the annual readings by Kentucky writers at Giles House. This year's event is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 13, 2008, beginning at 10:00amCT. We chose to move it to September hoping for cooler weather. But it could be just as hot as usual. That has not stopped us from having a great time in the past.

If you want to read at KRK, please let me know as soon as possible. I know it's still a long way off, but it's not too early to plan.

Some changes: This year readers will be scheduled strictly on a first-to-register, first-to-read basis. You will need to plan to come for the whole day, if possible. We always have readers who don't show, in which case the next reader is moved up. You cannot know exactly when you'll read. If you can't come for the whole day, please let me know which session (morning or afternoon) you will be there so I can schedule accordingly. Registration is open, beginning today. If you register and your plans change, please us know as quickly as you can to free up your spot for another reader.

One more thing: Last year the earliest readers had no audience because those scheduled to read later in the day did not come until it was time for them to read. Put yourself in that position. Respect other readers by coming for the whole session. Better still, the whole day.

Food will be available for purchase at noon, or you may bring your own picnic.
