Obituary: Joel Scott Stephens, 39

Mr. Stephens was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Russell County. He was a construction worker, a U.S. Army veteran, and was formerly a resident of Adair County, KY

Joel Scott Stephens, Russell Springs, KY, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Markey Cancer Center, Indianapolis, IN.

He was born December 4, 1967, the son of Marshall Marvin Stephens and Carol Elaine Rogers Stephens, Russell Springs, KY, who survive.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two children, Rachel Elaine Stephens and Joshua Luke Stephens, both of Columbia, KY, and the following:


  • Two brothers: Vincent Craig Stephens and Timothy Paul Stephens, both of Russell Springs, KY

  • One sister: Marsha Wells, Jamestown, KY
Mr. Stephens was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Russsell County. He had been a construction worker prior to his illness and was a U.S Army veteran.

The funeral will be at 10:00amCT, Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the Liberty Baptist Church, Russell County, with the Rev. Brian Rafferty the officiating clergy. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Bernard Funeral Home, Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, will be in charge of funeral arrangement.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund.

Visitation is Tuesday, October 2, 2007, after 5:00pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell SpringsPallbearers are: Paul David Coffey, Darrell Coffey, Terry George, David hare, Kenny Catron, and Kyle Thomas.
