Fletcher appoints 2 new KY Center for Arts board members

Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed two new members to the Kentucky Center for the Arts Board of Directors and reappointed two others.

Ron Greenburg and Juliet Cooper Gray are new appointees. Bruce Merrick and Jane Ramsey were reapoointed by the Governor.



Ron Greenberg, of Prospect, is a new appointee. Greenberg is senior vice president of Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's HealthCare and executive director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute. He has served as chair of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and as a member of the Kentucky Lung Cancer Research Board, the Community Foundation of Louisville, the Jewish Community Federation, the Indiana University Southeast Board of Advisors, the Actors Theatre of Louisville board, the Louisville Theatrical Association board and the Kentucky Hospital Association Bluegrass Board. Greenberg holds a bachelor's degree from Queens College and a master's degree from Columbia University. He was awarded a fellowship at the Baruch School of Business at City College of New York and has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Louisville School of Business. He is married to Ruth Greenberg.

Juliet Cooper Gray, of Louisville, is also a new appointee. Gray is a retired teacher and civic volunteer. She has served as chair of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts Foundation and as a member of the boards of the University of Louisville Overseers, the James G. Brown Cancer Center, the Metro United Way, the Louisville Ballet, the Greater Louisville Fund for the Arts, the Louisville Science Center, the Community Foundation of Louisville and the Louisville Zoological Society. She is former president of the Junior League of Louisville and is a Leadership Louisville graduate. Gray holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. She is married to Dr. Laman A. Gray Jr.

Bruce C. Merrick, of Louisville, has been reappointed. Merrick is chairman and co-founder of Dant Clayton Corp., a spectator seating manufacturer. He serves on the D.D. Williamson Board of Directors and the Western Kentucky University Advisory Board. Merrick is a board member and former president of Actors Theater of Louisville and has served on the boards of the local YMCA and Custom Quality Services. Merrick was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year for 2000 in the manufacturing division of Kentucky and Southern Indiana by Ernst and Young. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and is married to Karen McCoy.

Jane Ramsey, of Louisville, has also been reappointed.# Ramsey, a former teacher, holds a bachelor's degree in education from Western Kentucky University and a master's degree in education from Georgetown College. Ramsey has served as a member of the Louisville Science Center Board of Directors. She is married to University of Louisville President James Ramsey and leads the university's campus beautification efforts. The Kentucky Center for the Arts, Louisville's largest performing arts venue, is home to the Louisville Orchestra, the Kentucky Opera, the Louisville Ballet, Stage One children's theater and the PNC Bank Broadway Across America series. The board, which is made up of 15 gubernatorial appointees, supervises the Center and promotes the growth and development of the arts, convention trade and tourism industry within Louisville and Kentucky through utilization of the Center and its activities.
