Art in the Alley, Greensburg KY, 9am to 5pm. June 3 Seeing the restoration and the recent improvements in Downtown Greensburg is well worth the trip. Festival ties in with 400 Mile Sale Across Kentucky, June 1-4 Artists from around Kentucky will meet in Greensburg on June 3 for the second annual Arts in the Alley festival. The event, which will be from 9am to 5pm, is sponsored by the Greensburg Arts Council, and is free to the public. In addition to the artworks and crafts, the day will include demonstrations, music, and children's activities. Live music will suit all tastes with a sampler of bluegrass, Celtic folk and classical arrangements. The artists will be located in the North Alley just off the historic downtown Square in Greensburg. A recent renovation is complete, and has transformed the downtown into one of Kentucky's most beautiful county seat squares. If you haven't visited Greensburg in the past two years, you are in for a most pleasant surprise. Among the many sites in Greensburg is the Old Courthouse (circa 1803) the heritage gardens, and the Green River mural behind the WPA-era waterworks on Court Street. At the end of Court Street, visitors can cross The Footbridge, 446 feet-long, to the restored L&N train depot.Exhibitors at Arts in the Alley include painters, potters, writers, woodcarvers, silk screeners, photographers, and musicians. Boxed lunches will be available from a nearby restaurant. Other local restaurants are offering discounts for those attending the Arts in the Alley. Attendees will have a chance to win either a drawing for a night in the waterfront cabins or a canoe trip for two down the scenic Green River. The event also ties in with The 400 Mile Sale Across Kentucky, which will take place on June 1-4.
