12th annual Tractor Show at Knifley

By Patty Bunch

Tractor afficianadoes from across the state convened in Knifley, KY, on the second Saturday of September, as they have been doing for the past twelve years, for the annual Knifley Tractor Show.

The tractor show started in 2015, and was originally hosted by Paul Dixon and Larry Davis. It continued for several years in conjunction with the Revisit Knifley Festival. While the festival has been discontinued, the tractor show continues because of the huge amount of interest. Larry Davis died as a result of a farming accident shortly after the tractor show in 2022, but the tradition has been carried on by Paul Dixon. Since Larry's death, Paul has hosted the tractor show with the help of his wife, his son, and his son's family, along with his sisters.

This year, forty-four tractors and one Mack truck participated in the show. There was inclement weather until afternoon, but everyone gathered under a large tent to enjoy a lunch of grilled burgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, pinto beans and corn bread and drinks. After the rain stopped, the tractors took a ride of eight miles along the country roads and back to the tent.

Sponsors for this year's event were the Bank of Columbia, United Citizens Bank, Forcht Bank, Community Trust Bank, Citizens Bank and Trust, Gaskins Fertilizer, Jeffries Feed and Seed, Craig's Farms, and Day and Day Feed.
