Football: Indians at Metcalfe County recap By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Friday night, August 28, 2026, the Adair County Indians Varsity Football team defeated the Metcalfe County Hornets 14-6 to improve to 2-0 on the season. This latest outing was nearly as balanced as it gets, with the 239 yards of total offense for Adair County coming from 118 passing yards and 121 rushing yards. In the passing game, Braxton McKinney went 11 for 17 for 118 yards and a touchdown, but did throw two interceptions. On the rushing attack, Callum Darnell led the way with 16 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown, followed by dual-threat McKinney, who had five carries for 51 yards. Jaden Wooten lead the way for all Indian pass-catchers, with three catches for 39 yards, followed by Darnell, who had three catches for 35 yards and the lone receiving touchdown. On special teams, Matthew MeJean went two-for-two on extra points and punted once for 21 yards. Tristan Mullins lead the Adair County defense with 12 tackles, followed by Parker Jessie, who had 11 and an interception, which was one of the Indians' two forced turnovers of the night. The Adair County defense did do quite a bit of work though, making Metcalfe County QB Jackson Smith uncomfortable on multiple plays. The Indians defense sacked him twice and deflected four of his passes in addition to the interception, all of which contributed to a low 46% completion percentage from the Hornet's QB. Wiley Feese also posted a forced fumble and Brody Karnes posted a fumble recovery for the Tribe's Defense. Adair County is 2-0 on the season, and will finally get back to Columbia this Friday as they will host the Casey County Rebels (0-2), with kickoff scheduled for 7pmCT on September 4, 2026, at Indian Field.
