Lanterns & Tombstones Tour of Mount Carmel Cemetery The next installment of the Fifth Season of the Lanterns & Tombstones Cemetery Walking Tours will start at 7pmCT on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, 682 Mt. Carmel RD, Columbia, KY. This is the second "On-the-Road" tour of the year, and Dave Thomas and Mike Watson will lead participants through various parts of the Mount Carmel Cemetery, pointing out bits of interesting lore along the way. The tour will form at the edge of the Mount Carmel Church parking area, adjacent to the cemetery. Please do not park in the cemetery. This is a walking tour through the historic cemetery and participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, and bring your enthusiasm. Small flashlights will be provided to aid you in winding your way on the tour. Driving Directions: From Columbia, take Highway 55 North, turn right onto Hwy 682 (Cane Valley Road), then bear left--still 682/Kellyville Road--follow 9/10 mile to Mount Carmel Road and turn right and proceed to Mount Carmel Church on the left. Lanterns & Tombstones Tours take place each month throughout the year, April through September, culminating with the annual Silent City Tour of 2026 in October.
