Vital economic and wellness lifeline rescued by TJ "When TJ first purchased this hospital in February 2016, they didn't just save a building. They rescued a vital economic and wellness lifeline for our town..." By Landon Edwards, President Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce As a chamber, our mission is to foster a community where families thrive, businesses grow, and our local economy stays vibrant. There is no foundation more critical to that mission than accessible, high-quality healthcare. That is why today is a monumental milestone for Columbia, Adair County and our entire regional business community as we celebrate the opening of the brand new Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department. When T.J. Health Columbia first purchased this hospital in February 2016, they didn't just save a building. They rescued a vital economic and wellness lifeline for our town. Over the last decade, their consistent investment has been a master class in community commitment. They have secured essential jobs, expanded the 24-7 emergency department, earned a critical level four trauma center designation and brought us comprehensive rehabilitation, wound care, and primary services. For too long, local patients recovering from a heart attack, bypass surgery, or chronic lung conditions had to face the added stress of a long commute just to get monitored care. Today that burden ends. This new department provides a medically supervised sanctuary where you can rebuild strength, lungs, and heart safely right here at home, surrounded by neighbors that care about you. This is pretty near and dear to my heart. Some of you may know my dad. I see some familiar faces. Rick and Doug and a lot of you guys, Shelby. My dad's got chronic COPD and many health problems and been in the hospital many times here and it's just been basically a lifesaver. It's amazing to have a facility like this in our hometown. We are thankful. We truly thank you. We are incredibly proud to partner with health care leaders who continually invest in the future of Columbia.
