T.J. Health Cardiopulmonary Rehab opens Tuesday "Recovery shouldn't mean traveling away from home..."" By Jodie Holgate, EVP of Patient Care Services For so many of our neighbors here in Columbia and across Adair County, a heart attack, heart surgery, or a diagnosis like COPD doesn't just change in a single moment. It changes how someone breathes, how they move, and how they show up for the people they love. Recovery from those events shouldn't mean traveling away from home, shouldn't mean going away from family, or away from the community who knows you, but today that will change. This program brings together expert clinical staff who will walk alongside our patients as they rebuild their strength, regain their confidence, and learn to live well with heart and lung conditions. It's built on the simple belief that healing happens best when we're close to home, surrounded by caregivers who know us by name. I want to take a moment to recognize our physicians and their partnership and collaboration that's essential to bringing this program to life. Our cardiologist, Dr. Venkata Reddy, and our pulmonologist, Dr. Omar Mahmood. Their vision and commitment to this community made this possible, and we are deeply grateful. And to our patients who will walk in these doors in the days ahead, this space was built for them. Every piece of equipment, every protocol, and every team member here was designed with your recovery in mind. I also want to offer a special thank you to Brandon Dickey for being the eyes and ears of this program and for procuring the grant funding that made this possible. And to our flagship cardiopulmonary rehab team in Glasgow, you were the blueprint. Because of what you built, we were able to bring the same level of care here to Columbia, and that is a tribute to your excellence. I would like to take this moment now to introduce Crystal Shoopman and Anthony Keith, whose tireless dedication laid the foundation for this program. It was this collaborative partnership between Anthony and Crystal that truly brought this program from vision to reality, a testament to what can happen when the right people work together towards a shared vision."
