Greg Thomas announces HazMat Awareness Level Training HazMat Awareness Level Training Date: Tuesday, March 28, 2006 and Friday, March 31, 2006 Time: 5:00 pm 9:00 pm Location: LWC, Cramner Dining Center Cost of training: FREE This class is open to anyone even if they think they may or may not be interested in joining the Regional HazMat Team. The class will be limited to the first 20 people the sign up. To sign up call 378-1885 or e-mail: gthomas541@alltel.net no later than Saturday March 25, 2006 Course Description This eight hour training session addresses OSHA-required information for safe and effective response to hazardous chemical emergencies. Lectures, slide shows and individual and group activities are designed to help the student attain competency at OSHA's "first responder awareness" level for chemical emergency response. Students will learn how to use the U.S. Department of Transportation's "Emergency Response Guide" for identifying hazardous materials. The course is one of a series recommended by the Kentucky Emergency Response Commission for interagency, standardized response to chemical emergencies. The following agencies support this training: Cabinet for Human Resources--EMS Branch, Kentucky Emergency Management, Kentucky Community & Technical College System, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection--Division of Water, Kentucky Department of Transportation and Kentucky Fire Marshal's Division of Hazardous Materials.
