Ben Breeding adds to information on John W. Green, of the Orphan Brigade

To the editor,

Cyrus had questions regarding the family history of John Williams Green, of The Orphan Brigade.

John W. Green was born on his grandfather's plantation in Henderson County, Kentucky, on October 8, 1841. His father, Hector Green, was born in Fauquier County, Virginia. His mother was Louisa Eleanor Ruggles of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

John William had two older brothers.

After John's grandfather lost his property, the family moved to Louisville, where John graduated from Male High School.

John spent some time in Florence, Alabama, before making his way back to Bowling Green, where he joined The Orphan Brigade.
