ACSO: Pair arrested after firing shots into a residence

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 3:10pmCT, Adair County 911 received a call from a residence in the 5000 block of KY80 East. The caller advised an unknown male was shooting at his house and then broke into a camper in his driveway.

Upon arrival, officers found that a male and female were still inside the camper. Commands by Sheriff Brockman and Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch for the pair to exit the camper were unsuccessful. Additional units from Columbia Police and KSP arrived on scene.

Sheriff Brockman and CPD Officer Jimmy Luttrell made entry into the camper and located the pair hiding in the bedroom. They were taken into custody without incident.


During the investigation, a .22 revolver was located as well as 4 shell casings. Video surveillance of the incident was obtained from the homeowner. The victims have had no prior contact with the perpetrators and did not know who they are.

Mathew Boutwell, age 22, of Russell County, was lodged in Adair Regional Jail on the following charges:
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree 2 counts
  • Burglary 1st degree
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking firearm

Shonta Ramirez age 25, of Russell County, was lodged in Adair Regional Jail on the following charges:
  • Burglary 2nd degree
The investigation is ongoing by Sheriff Josh Brockman.
