Rose Anderson, 93, Cumberland County, KY (1928-2022)

Rose Anderson, age 93, died on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Burkesville, Kentucky. She was born in the community of Little Renox on September 27, 1928, the third of three children, to Ritchie and Mabel Allen Cole.

She was a proud member of the Burkesville High School Class of 1946, always planning the next reunion and enjoying catching up with her classmates. She enjoyed traveling with her family, either by car in the early days or by bus once she retired. She loved to crochet and knit, but really embraced quilting later in life, having been an active member of the local Quilt Guild and having made each of her grandchildren a quilt for a wedding present. She loved to cook and bake, especially the annual Southern Living Holiday Cake, which her family looked forward to each year.

She married Ralph K. Anderson on December 7, 1946, in Jamestown, Kentucky, and together they raised two children and celebrated many anniversaries until Ralph's passing in September 2010. In 2012, Rose married Dr. Thomas Miller, who also preceded her in death, having passed away in June 2017.

Rose was a member of many clubs including the Ladies Auxiliary, the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Homemaker's Club, the Woman's Club, the Library's Rook and Bridge Clubs, and the Red Hat Society. She served as an election officer for numerous years and enjoyed watching the news (and her favorite game shows). A member of the Church of Christ, she enjoyed attending singings in the community and was a life-long learner, enjoying audiobooks in her later years.

Over the course of her life, Rose worked as an RCA filament welder for television tubes, switchboard operator, Duo County billing clerk, jewelry store salesperson, extension homemaking assistant, and owned/operated Cumberland County Florist, but she will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Anderson Lewis; her daughter-in-law, Charlene Compton Anderson; her four grandchildren, Carmen Anderson Mullins (Charles), Colette Anderson Chelf (David), Julie Lewis Skeeters (Kevin), and Kent Anderson (Andrea); her eight great-grandchildren, Afton Skeeters, Lila Chelf, Andy Mullins, Clay Mullins, Ben Chelf, Jacob Skeeters, Sam Anderson, and Norah Anderson; her step-son, Lawrence Lee Miller (Vivian); and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends. Also, her special caregivers Brenda Garner, Kristina Kearney, and Patty Polston.

Funeral services for Rose Anderson will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 3pmCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Burkesville Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Saturday, June 25th from 5-9.
