Wilbur K. Barnes, 90, Russell County, KY (1932-2022) Wilbur K. Barnes, 90, of Jamestown, KY, passed away Thursday, May 26th, at his residence surrounded by family. Wilbur was born in Rowena, KY on February 14, 1932, a son of the late Martha (Gaines) and Beckham B. Barnes. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Columbia Christian Church. He was a retired Superintendent of Schools, other positions he held in the school system were Teacher, Principal, and Head of Transportation. Wilbur is survived by wife Margie (Rigsby) Barnes, of Jamestown, KY; two sons B.B. (Paula) Barnes, and Brad Barnes, of Jamestown, KY; a sister, Mary Ann Dabney, of Jamestown, KY; a brother, Roger Barnes, of Russell Springs, KY; granddaughter Jalena (Garrett) Bryant, of Jamestown, KY; He is also survived by great granddaughter Jacklyn Bryant, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lane Barnes. Funeral Service will be held 3pmCT on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Terry White, Bro Roger Garner, and Pastor John Davis officiating. Friends may visit after 12noon on Sunday. Interment at Wheat Cemetery Jamestown, KY. The family request memorial donations to the Wilbur and Margie Barnes Education Scholarship and can be made at the funeral home or mailed to Jalena Bryant 149 Helm Landing Rd. Jamestown, KY 42629.
