ACSO: Ice a factor in collision in Pellyton community By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Friday evening, January 28, 2022, at approximately 6:34pm, Adair County 911 received a call of a collision approximately 17 miles east of Columbia on KY206 in the Pellyton Community. The Adair County Sheriff's Office, along with the Knifley Fire Department and Adair County EMS, responded to the area on snow and ice covered roadways. The collision occurred just prior to Barnetts Creek Road on the bridge. CPR was started on the vehicle operator by the Sheriff's Office and Knifley Fire prior to EMS arrival. Unfortunately, attempts by first responders and EMS were unsuccessful, and the vehicle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. Adair County Coroner Todd Akin and Deputy Coroner Roger Huckaby were notified and responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that Jessie Allen Johnson, age 47, was traveling west on KY206 when he lost control of his 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and struck the concrete bridge abutment, bringing his vehicle to an immediate stop. The roadways at the time of the collision were snow and ice-covered, with very hazardous driving conditions. The collision was investigated by Sheriff Josh Brockman, who was assisted by Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch. The Adair County Sheriffs Office extends their prayers and condolences to the family during the loss of their loved one. This story was posted on 2022-01-31 08:30:21
