William Edwin Bryant, 81, Columbia, KY (1940-2022)

William Edwin Bryant of Columbia passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. He was 81 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Richie Curtis, Bro. Darrin Blair and Bro. Jamie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Monday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


He was born in Adair County on September 24, 1940 to the late Acy Wade and Carrie Burton Bryant. He was also preceded in death by his wife Bernice Yarberry Bryant and a brother Lewis Bryant.

Mr. Bryant was a member and Deacon of Freedom Separate Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S Army. He and his late brother Lewis was the former owners and operators of Bryant Brothers Saw Mill. Edwin was a hard-working man that loved his church and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter Marla Akin of Columbia, KY; a granddaughter Sydnie Paige Nivens of Columbia, KY; two siblings Kenneth Bryant (Joann) of Columbia, KY and Evelyn Watts (Pete) of Cedar Hill, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers Ronnie Bolin, Danny Rooks, Steve Roy, Mike Stearns, Donnie Bolin and Tony Hart.
