ACHS seniors overcome interview jitters

By Shanna Darnell
ACHS College & Career Readiness Counselor

On Tuesday of this week, local professionals conducted mock job interviews, giving over half of the ACHS senior class some real-world experience. Interviewing is an important part of the job application process, and Adair County High School wants their students to be able to communicate their qualifications and enthusiasm as effectively as possible.

"We wanted to give our students an opportunity to have a practice interview in a safe environment and allow for the interviewer to give feedback for positive growth. Our students are eager to grow and we are so appreciative of our community members that have given this opportunity to our students." said ACHS College and Career Readiness Counselor Shanna Darnell.

A second round of mock job interviews will be held during the second semester to ensure all seniors have the opportunity to participate.

ACHS would like to give a huge thank you to Lisa Gosser of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District for arranging our interviewing committee. Those conducting the mock interviews included Bonnie Rodgers Irey of Luttrell Staffing, Tammy Curry of Brown & Brown Insurance, Angela Cowan & Tiffany Bryant of Morgan Smith Industries, Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots, Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan, Jeric DeVore, Lisa Gosser, Marsha Wells & Amy Dennis of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, and Sherry Selby of Duo County Telecom.
