Sign up now for new Adair Co. 4-H STEM Club By Tony Rose, Agent for 4-H Youth Development Adair County Cooperative Extension Service Adair County 4-H is starting a new 4-H STEM Club. Club meetings will be held at least once a month, and will feature activities that youth can work on at club meetings but also home. Each month there will be different STEM lessons and activities. Youth will receive kits containing everything needed for the project. Youth who participate in the 4-H STEM Club will have to pay a fee of $50. This fee will be used to help offset some of the costs of materials for the kits. Registration is open to the first 15 youth ages 9-18 who register. The deadline is Friday, March 19, or when all spots are full. Registration Link: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8FXglHPML6KBBIi. The first meeting will take place in late April. Dates for each month's meetings will be set at the first meeting in April. Youth will be able to keep all projects except the Lego Robotics kits. The Lego Robotics kits will be loaned out to youth but must be returned to the Extension Office after projects are finished. Plans are to hold meetings in-person whenever possible. For this reason, there will be a limit of 10-15 youth to start with. All COVID guidelines will be followed at all in-person meetings. In-person meetings will take place at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. As part of the 4-H STEM Club, youth will elect officers and hold monthly club meetings. At those meetings, the youth will also help determine other areas of interest in the STEM field that the club would like to participate in. This story was posted on 2021-03-15 15:29:08
