Letter: Question about flu data Billy Joe Fudge writes: Speaking of the flu, how many flu deaths have there been in the United States this year and how do those flu deaths compare with pre-Covid 19 yearly flu deaths?Comments re: COVID-19: if you think it's no worse than flu Thanks for writing. We don't yet have data for the current 2020/2021 season. Based on lab reports of confirmed cases, the CDC states that "Seasonal influenza activity in the United States remains lower than usual for this time of year." For previous flu seasons, the following numbers are large scale statistical estimates* from the CDC web site's page www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/past-seasons.html:
