Robert Linzy Bernard, 88, Russell County, KY Robert Linzy Bernard, age 88, of Russell Springs, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset, KY. Born June 30, 1932, in Russell Co., KY, he was a son of the late Jesse A. and Crella Jane Wilson Bernard. He was a 30 year retired United States Air Force veteran, having attained the highest enlisted level of leadership in the Air Force: Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of the Bernard Church of God. He formerly attended the Bible Baptist Church in Florida. He was an avid camper and fisherman. Survivors include his son, Robert W. Couch Bernard (and Scottie Joe Couch Bernard of Anchorage, AK; daughters, Debbie Hickman of Palmer, AK and Denise (and James) Whitaker of McKee; brothers, David (and Martha) Bernard of Paintsville and Paul (and Arlene) Bernard of Russell County; sister, Liz Flanigan of Jamestown; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Billie Williams Bernard, who passed on May 21, 2000; his second wife, Freida Gosser Bernard, who passed on November 9, 2020; and his daughter, Pam Glessing. Due to COVID restrictions, graveside services will be held privately for family only Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Lucinda Cemetery with Brother Lindsey Cornett officiating. Burial will follow the service with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings are required. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bernard Church of God, 241 Stephens Ridge Road, Russell Springs, KY 42642. Arrangements by Bernard Funeral Home.
