Meet the new Program Director at Homeplace on Green River

Join us in welcoming Lyn Stanton and her family to Adair County and to Homeplace on Green River. Lyn sends the letter below to introduce herself to everyone as the new Program Director at HGR.

By Lyn Stanton

Dear Friends of Homeplace on the Green River,

My name is Lyn Stanton and I am very excited to introduce myself to you as the new Program Director of Homeplace on the Green River. I would love the opportunity to tell you a little about myself and my journey to Homeplace.

I grew up in northeastern Ohio, and after high school attended Ohio University located in the small town of Athens in Southeastern Ohio. While I began my college career pursuing a degree in biological sciences, I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education. I have studied several disciplines extensively, especially biology and I am a lover of learning. I think that is why I enjoy working in education. After college, I stayed in Athens.

In 2009, I began teaching for a summer art camp at the Dairy Barn Arts Center and was hired as the Education Director in 2011. Shortly after, I met my darling Husband Charles Stanton. We were married in 2014 and welcomed our son Atticus into the world in 2015. Much of my husband's family originated in Adair and Russell counties and he spent several years of his childhood living on a gorgeous piece of land in Adair.

He inherited that parcel and we have been visiting and vacation-camping on it for several years; in fact, it is where he proposed to me! Since the beginning of our relationship, we have been pursuing a move to this incredible region, so that my husband could go back to his old homeplace, and I could get to know a brand new community of incredible people and raise our son in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

So, it is with tremendous joy and excitement that I embrace my new found position with Homeplace on the Green River. I bring to the position 10 years of nonprofit administrative and educational programming experience, and a diverse range of other skills that come from working in community-minded, small, nonprofit organizations. I am incredibly honored and humbled to be here, and to me, it feels like fate. I look forward to serving Homeplace on the Green River to the best of my ability and to being a part of serving the community with the incredible events and programs being produced here. I hope to help Homeplace On The Green River to grow in the vision of the mission and will do my best to fulfill my duties with distinction.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know the lovely people, dynamic organizations, and industrious businesses that reside here. It is my goal to help steward Homeplace on the Green River alongside the dedicated people who have already created such a strong organizational foundation. Moving forward, I hope to be able to count on your support and the support of the community to ensure continued success, and I will be reaching out to individuals and businesses to keep folks informed about all the things there are to see and do at Homeplace on the Green River.

Meanwhile, I invite you to come by anytime and say hello! Until then, I hope you, your family, and loved ones stay safe and healthy, and have a wonderful and warm holiday season. --Lyn Stanton
