LWC Women's Basketball sails past Brescia in home opener By Brady Budke From tip-off to the end, the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team outmatched Brescia (KY) at Biggers Sports Center en route to a 99-56 victory on Tuesday evening. The win improves the Blue Raiders to 2-0, while the Bearcats drop to 0-3. Scoring came in bunches for LWC, as 10 different players recorded points on the stat sheet. Reagan Turner once again corralled the team-high in points with 25 on 9-of-16 shooting from the field to go alongside four assists & three steals. Sydnie Hall possessed the hot hand from behind the arc, with the freshman notching five 3-pointers (four in the third quarter) in a 15-point outing. Rose Mary Jackson tallied home another solid game, scoring 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Jordyn Stephens rounded out the double-figure scoring for Lindsey Wilson with 10 points to go along with seven boards. The trio of Maleigha Oldham, Natalie Pierce, & Hailey Ison pushed out nine points apiece in the win. As a team, the Blue Raiders shot 47.1 percent (33-of-70) while the Bearcats only managed a 34.4 percent shooting game (21-of-61). LWC was active on the boards, out-rebounding BU 54-to-29 which included 24 offensive rebounds. Bree Glover led the game pulling down 11 boards. The Blue Raiders held a tight hold on the Bearcats after one quarter, leading 29-6 on 46.2 percent shooting from the field (18-of-39). Brescia was slow out of the gate, shooting just 25.8 percent in quarter number one (8-of-31). The slow start proved to plague BU, as LWC took full advantage and extended the lead to 24 heading into the half. The Blue Raiders enlarged the lead to 45 after three quarters which eventually rolled over into the 99-56 victory. The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team is set to return to action on Saturday, facing off against Midway (KY) at Biggers Sports Center beginning at 2pmCT.
