Bill Newcomb, 80, Cub Run, KY (1940-2020)

Bill Newcomb of Cub Run passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was 80 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 11amET on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Burial will follow in Lebanon National Cemetery, with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.



Bill Newcomb of Cub Run, former of Finley, son of the late Patrick Newcomb and Viola Sapp Newcomb, was born April 24, 1940 in Taylor County, Kentucky.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Bill was a retired auto mechanic and enjoyed working on cars.

He is survived by two daughters: Patty Deering and husband, David of Campbellsville and Elaine Gerwitz and husband, Bobby of Shepherdsville; four grandchildren: Brandon Gerwitz of Lebanon Junction and Makayla Deering, Macy Deering and Maddie Deering of Campbellsville; one great-grandchild, Kaydan Gerwitz of Lebanon Junction; two sisters and one brother: Catherine Raffety and Sue Yates and husband, Jody of Campbellsville and Luther Newcomb and wife, Ailine of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers: Johnny Newcomb, Gene Newcomb, Jim Newcomb, Randall Newcomb, Jerry Newcomb and Joe Newcomb and one half-brother, G. E. Newcomb.
