OCC 2020 Collection Dates

Collection dates for Operation Christmas Child have been set for November 16-23, 2020. Once again in Adair County, boxes will be collected at the Wheet Fellowship Hall at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene located on Jamestown Street. According to Church Relationship Director Mark Fudge, the need for shoe box gifts is greater now than ever before.

"Due to the pandemic, children are scared and families are hurting now more than ever. We want to provide as many shoe box gifts of hope as we possibly can to children and their families. I'm asking churches, businesses, and individuals to join in this critical mission," said Fudge.

For nearly three decades, Samaritan's Purse has collected OCC Shoebox gifts and delivered them to boys and girls overseas. Each box is an opportunity to delight the heart of a child and share the good news of Christ with them and their families. In the midst of a worldwide pandemic the needs are great.

It's a very simple process, according to Fudge. "Take an Empty shoe box from your closet or order some from Samaritanpurse.org/occ. Then fill the box with fun toys, school supplies, sunglasses, and hygiene items like soap, wash cloths and tooth brushes. You can include your photo and a note to the child to really make the gift special, then bring your shoebox gift to the Wheet Fellowship Hall during national collection week November 16-23. It's important to pray for the child that will receive your box, and a $9 donation to cover shipping and other project costs is helpful."

This year is very different. We will modify our procedures to follow the health guidelines but we will still get the job done. With your help, we will get these shoebox gifts into the hands of precious children who need to know God loves them. We are grateful for your prayers and support as we respond to Christ's call to, "go into all the world and preach the gospel". (Mark 16:15).
