A pre-birthday visit with Briggs

By Linda Waggener

Briggs McFall gave a fine tour of the flowers and plants at the Benningfield home on Hurt Street in Columbia Thursday when the sun was warm and bright.

He was a busy boy who will turn four at the end of October and right after giving me the tour he had business with an early birthday present.

In addition to the bright fall blossoms and pumpkins, getting to see the beauty of fall through the eyes of a child adds a whole new light and makes smiles possible all around.

He is the son of the late Cally McFall, and Bryson McFall. The memory bench he sits on in one of the photos we made says, "No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew and only God knows why."

Great grandmother "DeeDee" says Briggs is "our pride and joy." He is the great-grandson of Diane and Bob Benningfield, Ben and Elaine Wilson, and Wayne and Thelma Hatcher of Adair County.

Briggs' grandparents are Craig and Stacey Wilson Bishop, and Todd and Billie Wilson, of Adair County; and also Ronnie and Kim McFall and Ron and Kim McBeath, of Russell County.

Briggs visiting his DeeDee's fall decorations

2020-10-12 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Briggs McFall's Great Grandmother "DeeDee" says "Briggs is our pride and joy." He is pictured enjoying the fall decorations at the Hurt Street home of Diane and Bob Benningfield. In addition to the bright fall blossoms and pumpkins, seeing them through the eyes of a child adds a whole new light and made smiles come to the faces of all the grownups. In the picture on the right it looks as though Briggs might be sending a wave to his Mom, the late Cally McFall, up in heaven.
