Johnson wins, women's XC finishes second, at Louisville Classic

Louisville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's cross country team finished second while Meredith Johnson picked up an individual win in the season-opening Louisville Classic on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

Johnson earns her first career win and fifth career top-10. She won the 5,000-meter race by 37 seconds over her nearest competitor with a time of 18 minutes and 53 seconds. Johnson posts her career-best time with today's result.



The Blue Raiders finished runner-up to Dalton State (Ga.) in the Silver Race. Lindsey Wilson posted a score of 82 points compared to Dalton State's 47 points.

Alyssa Sharp posted a top-10 finish in her first collegiate race. She crossed the finish line in 20:03.7, good enough for sixth place in the 104-woman race.

Kaylee Masden ended in 23rd place with a time of 21:02 while Dezare Jackson finished 26th in 21:09. Laura Cuin (21:13) completed the scoring Blue Raiders with a 28th-place finish.

Macey Wilson (21:14) ended in 29th to give the Blue Raiders six harriers in the top-30.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Drakes Creek Scramble in Bowling Green, Ky.
