KSP: Man impersonating police officer assaults female

By Tpr. Nick Hale

Gradyville, KY On September 3rd, 2020, at approximately 10:30pmCT, Kentucky State Police Post 15 responded to an assault that occurred 6 miles west of Columbia on Edmonton Road.

The victim stated that she was travelling west on Edmonton Road when she observed blue lights coming up behind her; so she pulled over even though she did not think she had made any traffic violations. She stated that she saw a male subject approach her from an unidentified car that did not have law enforcement decals on it.

When the man got to the window he threw what is suspected to be ammonia in her face and tried to forcibly take her from the vehicle. The female fought back and suffered a head injury but was able to get free. The male subject retreated back to his vehicle and left the scene.

This incident is under investigation by Trooper Clint Bale. Tpr. Bale was assisted by other KSP personnel, the Adair County Sheriff's Department and the Columbia Police Department.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact Post 15 at (270) 384-4796.
