Kidnapped child home in Colorado; local law prevails

Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross was pleased to announce that the kidnap victim is back home in Colorado where she will go through counseling. He asked for prayers for her and advised all parents to stay close to the contacts their children are making on the Internet.

One week ago today on August 21, 2020, Columbia Police Department officers Jamie Cole and Jordan Dean, assisted by Adair Deputy Joey Keith, took on a challenge at the ends of their shifts, kept working, and helped save a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped in Colorado.

In her home community, the Colorado Police worked from the victim's phone, found the last number she was communicating with and they turned out to be online predators. The officers obtained the proper paperwork to track the child from one cellular tower to another until they communicated their belief that she was in the Adair County area. Cumberland County Sheriff Scott Daniels worked with CPD officers.

Arrested in Columbia on local charges were Zachariah Minix, 21, of Morristown, Tennessee, charged with custodial interference and rape 1st degree.

Also arrested was Ethen Harville 21, also of Morristown Tennessee, charged with unlawful imprisonment.

Both men were lodged in the Adair Regional Jail after apprehension where they now await extradition.

The Bowling Green office of the FBI was contacted and is continuing the investigation with Colorado authorities with further charges pending.
