CPD: Home search leads to drug arrests

Columbia Police Department

Early Monday morning, the Columbia Police Department initiated a knock and talk at a residence on Guthrie Street with suspected drug activity.

Once contact was made with a resident, an odor of marijuana was detected by officers, and entry was made. Party stated to officers she had recently used methamphetamine. Search of the home yielded suspected methamphetamine as well as marijuana.



Deanna Cooper, 58, of Columbia, was taken into custody and has been charged with possession of marijuana as well as possession of methamphetamine. Cooper was already previously charged in 2020 with possession of methamphetamine by the Columbia Police Department.

Additionally, Roger Janes, 55, also of Columbia, was taken into custody for an active warrant stemming from previous drug charges.

Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Jamie Cole and Deputy Chandler Staten.
