Columbia Mayor's Report: June, 2020

We have been very busy this month. Following are some of the projects completed:

1. The Gas Department has cleaned around their building and painted the outside.

2. Painted and cleaned around regulator stations.

3. Replaced relief valve on North Highway 61.

4. Bid the Green Hills project; opened bids.

5. Working on grant opportunities for the Milltown Church Road gas line project.




6. Working on cathotics throughout town. To help improvement of gas lines and for corrosion control.

7. Worked on lines on Willis Street and Fairgrounds Street for improvements.

8. Changed the relief valves out. RE: PSC report.

9. Meter changeouts.

10. Getting quotations for extension of mapping.

11. Continuing will calls on the CALY line. Several tips have been received.

12. We have had a local individual that has reached out to possibly sponsor another K9 unit. We are working on the details.

13. The Little League Park is looking great! Thanks Terry and Craig. Fence topping has been placed on fields #2 and #3. We are planning on putting on #4 also.

14. Striping completed at the tennis court at the Fairgrounds.

15. Put up need scoreboards at the Little League Park. We appreciate the assistance of the staff of building and grounds at Lindsey Wilson College helping us. Shout out to Jeff Willis and Taft Neal.

16. Sowed grass at the park at the fairgrounds.

17. Door installed, cleaned, and painted in the upstairs at City Hall.

18. Rock placed on bank at the Trabue Russell House. Thanks to the State Highway Department for assisting with this project.

19. Mulching completed at the Trabue Russell House.

20. Mary Anne Loy is doing a great job with the new rosebushes at the Trabue Russell House. Thanks for all her effort! Over thirty new bushes have been planted. We urge everyone to go by and look.

21. Trimmed trees at the Trabue Russell House.

22. Mike Watson, with the Adair County Genealogical Society has toured the property on Burkesville Street (new park). He will be going through the items in the house for historical significance to Adair County history.

23. We want to thank all the people, who have and are volunteering with the flowers on the square. They have done an amazing job. Mary Anne Loy is organizing all the flowers beds and pots that are planted.

24. We have put up a partition for visitors/customers to city hall. Thanks to Phillip Stotts, Jerry Watson, Shawn White, and Shane Gaskins for working on this.

25. The City Streets Department have mowed several right-of-ways during the month; as well as doing some trimming.

26. The City Streets Department have picked-up around fifty loads of brush during June.

27. We have delivered and/or had picked up around 75 food bags. (All of the food for these bags was donated by local residents in our community). We appreciate everyone that has helped with this project.

28. Vonnie Koblenschlag gave a tour of the Trabue Russell House to the students that are working at the city hall. We appreciate Vonnie for all her work with the Trabue Russell House.
