LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 6/24/2020 By Amy Tomlinson Lake Cumberland District Health Department New Cases: We report that our total case count has increased by 8 today: Adair: 1; Casey: 1; McCreary: 1; Pulaski: 1; and, Taylor: 4. The new cases include:
For the moment, at least for Lake Cumberland, we can still manage to complete case investigations and contact tracing at our present growth rate. We certainly hope the growth rate doesn't eventually exceed our capacity. Also, we are fortunate in our area, at least for the time being, that hospital capacity is still sufficient. Also, our mortality rate and hospitalization rate has lowered. The growth rate, though, is concerning. Therefore, we strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask when out in public, to avoid crowds, to social distance (stay 6-feet from others), to wash their hands with soap and water often and thoroughly, to stay home if they have a fever or are coughing, to increase sanitation, and to avoid touching their faces. Deaths: We are pleased to report no new deaths today. We have experienced a total of 27 deaths resulting in an 8.2% mortality rate among known cases. Hospitalizations: We presently have 2 cases in the hospital. We have had a total of 65 hospitalizations resulting in a 19.7% hospitalization rate among known cases. Released (Recovered) Cases: We released 1 case today from isolation (recovered). Released cases include, Pulaski: 1. In all, we have released 75.2% of our total cases. Total (Cumulative) Cases: The Lake Cumberland District has experienced a total of 330 cases since the onset of the outbreak. This has resulted in the health department reaching out to over 2321 individuals during our contact tracing. Active (Current) Cases: Taking all things into account, this leaves us with 55 active cases in our district across 9 of our 10 counties. Of those active cases, 9 are asymptomatic. The Lake Cumberland area has experienced 330 Cumulative Confirmed Cases and there have been 14,372 Confirmed COVID-19 cases across 119 Kentucky Counties as of 06/24/20 (this includes 14,363 statewide plus 9 recently reported cases in Lake Cumberland not in the Governor's daily report). Regardless of the confirmed case count for any Lake Cumberland County, we believe COVID-19 to be widespread.
