CU encourages students to file FAFSA

By Joan C. McKinney

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University has joined a social media campaign using the hashtag, #FAFSAFridays, to encourage students to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Robyn Sollberger, director of financial aid at Campbellsville University, said the campaign was initiated by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), GEAR UP Kentucky, the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) and the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

She said the percentage of FAFSAs filed in Kentucky has dropped 3.7% from last year's applications.

"Filing the FAFSA is the first step to take if students need federal or state grants or student loans, or if they'd like to work on campus," Sollberger said.

"Campbellsville University's Office of Financial Aid is prepared to assist students who need assistance with the FAFSA," she said.

Sollberger said Campbellsville University's financial aid counselors can schedule appointments via phone or video chat with incoming or returning students who do not have a 2020-2021 FAFSA filed.

"Any student seeking to earn a certificate, diploma, undergraduate or graduate degree should file the FAFSA," she said.

Sollberger said students and parents should follow the CU Office of Financial Aid Facebook Page and Twitter account for more information and tips.
