ACHS Art Department wins at Regionals

NAEA Director of Secondary Division, Southeast Region


Adair County High School participated in the Caveland Regional High School Art Competition before the break. Students in my Adair County High School Art Department took 14 awards, 6 of which will advance to the All State level. The following students placed in a variety of categories of visual art(* designates Artwork advancing to State):



*Gabby Salyers: 1st & 2nd in painting; 3rd drawing - 2, Cave scene & bulldog

Jennifer Jimenez: Honorable Mention painting

*Ashton Flatt: 1st mixed media - purple image with girl and hearts

Reilly Wells: Honorable Mention mixed media

*Shelby Jones: 2nd printmaking

Eliza Spinks: 3rd printmaking

Bryson Helm: 3rd graphic design

*Ella Killgallin: 1st ceramics

*Navaranna Green: 2nd & Honorable Mention ceramics

*Rachel Hatcher: 1st photography - photo of farm scene and hand holding corn

Elizabeth Bair: 3rd photography

Given the current circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, the KyAEA is hosting virtual/digital Regional and State shows this year. The winning artwork can be viewed at this link - a total of 10 counties make up the Caveland Region.

Ella Killgallin's winning regional art

Ella Killgallin received a first place in ceramics with her enchanting ceramic fairy cottage. She and several other ACHS art students participated, and won honors, in the Caveland Regional High School Art Competition held before the break.

Given the current circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, the KyAEA is hosting virtual/digital Regional and State shows online for the ten counties that make up the Caveland Region.

Ashton Flatt's winner in Regional competition

Ashton Flatt won first place in the recent Caveland Regional High School Art Competition in mixed media with her purple image with girl and hearts. She and several other ACHS art students participated and placed in the regionals, and six will be going into the state compeition.

Gabby Salyers won in regionals on two paintings

Two works by ACHS art student Gabby Salyers were awarded top honors in the Caveland Regional High School Art Competition held before the break. Between her two paintings - interior of a cave, at left, and bulldog, on the right - she received honors of first and second in painting and third place in drawing among the ten county schools participating.
