CNN: Feds move income tax filing deadline to July 15

Kentucky Press News Service

The U.S Treasury secretary announced Friday morning that the U.S. income tax filing deadline will be moved from April 15 to July 15, CNN reports.

The later deadline will give Americans three extra months to file their taxes, Secretary Steven Mnuchin wrote on Twitter. "All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties."

Earlier this week, a reporter asked Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear during a press conference if the state was planning to move its tax filing deadline to a later date. Beshear replied that it depended on what the federal government did.
