In Bam's room, the song is 'All My Hope is in Jesus'

Update on Rep. Bam Carney, March 17, 2020, from his brother, Taylor County Clerk Mark Carney:

"Bam continues to take baby steps forward. He is getting a little stronger in his legs and can now wiggle his toes on his left foot, which is the foot that had no movement in it for so long. We have definitely thought about the tortoise and how slow and steady won that race and so many races since. In these days and times, we all want the quick fix-- but we have certainly been reminded through his recovery that the right fix is always best in the end- and sometimes that just takes time.

"We are hoping to get Bam moved to a room with a window in it in the near future hoping this will help his spirits. He has now been in an ICU room without a window for 86 days. Yesterday he was able to watch a video that many colleagues and staff members in Frankfort participated in. We want to publicly thank each of you who were involved for your time and inspiring words you shared with Bam.

"As far as some medical issues, his infection count has improved over the last 3 to 4 days, with this mornings white blood count being 13.5. They will be doing a drain study in the morning to see if they can reduce the size of one of the drains (remember it is about baby steps as he doesn't always get one removed but going to a smaller size is improvement).

"We had a CD of contemporary gospel playing this morning and I looked over at him once and he was moving his lips to part of "All My Hope is in Jesus". To think about it now brings tears to my eyes. What a beautiful sight it was to see and more importantly what an awesome thought to know!! So let's all let Bam's moment this morning be a moment for each of us as we declare that in all things "Our Hope is in Jesus"!! God Bless you and yours."
