Buford Leslie Akin, 78, Greensburg, KY (1941-2020)

Buford Leslie Akin of Greensburg passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020. He was 78 years old.

The funeral services for Buford Leslie Akin will be conducted at 11amCT on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Akin Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT on Monday until time of the funeral service.


Buford Leslie Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Leslie "Pat" Akin and Eliza Estelle Neagle Akin, was born on Tuesday, August 12, 1941 in Green County and departed this life on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his home. He was 78 years, and 7 months of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Akin had worked for the Kentucky State Department of Highways, Fruit of the Loom, Amazon, and Cox Interior. His love for life was farming, and his little dog, Sammy.

Survived by his companion: Cindy Williar of Greensburg; step-son: Eugene Keith Warf of Sparksville; four step-grandchildren; a sister and two brothers: Bernice Maedell Shirley of Greensburg, Herman Lee Akin of Springfield, and Wallace Ray Akin of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Akin was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: Roy Akin, William Doyle Akin, Alton Akin, Dalton Akin, Gordan Wayne Akin, Sarah Lucille Newcomb, Norma Jean VanMeter, and Martha Jane Robinson.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hosparus of Green River, which can be made at the funeral home.
