LWC Women's Basketball faces Montana Western in NAIA Tournament

By Chris Wells

Lindsey Wilson women's basketball is the No. 4 seed in the Duer Bracket of the 2020 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament bracket, NAIA officials announced today.

The Blue Raiders (26-6) face fifth-seeded and defending national champions Montana Western at 6:45pmCT on Wednesday, March 18, at First Interstate Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana.

No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson and No. 19-ranked Montana Western (20-11) each received at-large bids into the 32-team national tournament.

The field consists of 14 automatic berths, 17 at-large selections and championship host Rocky Mountain (Mont.). Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches' Top 25 poll released today.

Lindsey Wilson is making its 15th appearance in the national tournament and its sixth straight. The Blue Raiders own a 9-14 all-time record in the national tournament. Montana Western earns its 12th national-tournament appearance this season and boasts a 15-10 all-time national-tournament record. The Bulldogs won the 2019 national title.

The Blue Raiders and Bulldogs have met just once in the series history. Montana Western defeated Lindsey Wilson 58-44 during the 2002 NAIA National Tournament in Jackson, Tennessee.

The NAIA Network -- the association's official video streaming home -- will broadcast the first 30 games leading up to the championship final on ESPN3. The video platform, powered by Stretch Internet, allows users access to live video, statistics, and social interaction on several devices, including mobile. Single-day and all-tournament packages are available. NAIA Network can be accessed HERE

The winner of the Lindsey Wilson-Montana Western game advances to face the winner of No. 1-seed Oklahoma City and eighth-seeded Evangel (Mo.) on Friday, March 20 at 3:15 p.m. CT.
