Statement on missing funds, Jail Canteen account

By Joey White, Adair County Jailer

There was a discrepancy in the 2017-2018 audit. The day I found out where the discrepancy was I contacted Sheriff Brockman and Judge Cowan.

Later that same day a group of us got together including the sheriff, and judge executive and myself and we called the auditor of 2017-2018 to tell him about our findings and that we would like to have an audit up to December 31st, 2019.

So as of now, this is under investigation and by my understanding the investigation will continue till the audits are complete. Soon as the investigation is complete I will have comment on this matter.

I have been working with the auditors and putting procedures into place to safeguard funds from this ever happening again.
