LWC Men's swimming in 3rd at NAIA Championships

The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team completed day two of the NAIA National Championship as they earned two relay All-American honors along with one individual honor.

The Blue Raiders racked up 124 total points to sit in third place. Keiser (FL) holds on to first with 244 points.



Coetzee picked up a Lindsey Wilson leading three NAIA All-American honors as he claimed the honor in both the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay as well as adding an individual honor in the 500-yard freestyle.

Coetzee took second place in the prelims of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of four minutes and 29.84 seconds. In the finals, he touched the wall in second at 4:22.79 to finish just 0.42 tenths of a second off first place. His mark in the final set a new program record in the event.

The Lindsey Wilson pairing of James de Goede, Tyler King, Ron Wolfart and Coetzee carried the fourth-fastest time into the finals of the 200-yard freestyle relay as they raced their way to a time of 1:24.68. The mark broke the Lindsey Wilson program record. In the finals, the quartet finished in third place with a time of 1:24.02 to improve their school record.

William Thilwind, Wolfart, Reece Kincaid and Coetzee later teamed up in the 400-yard medley relay where they also finished with the fourth-fastest prelim time of 3:25.81. They held their position in the finals despite improving their time to 3:23.38.

In the 200-yard IM Wolfart and Kincaid both qualified for the B finals as they finished in 15th and 16th during the prelims. Wolfart touched the wall 0.02 seconds ahead of Kincaid with a time of 1:54.48. Wolfart took 11th in the finals with a time of 1:53.39 a time which broke the Lindsey Wilson program record. Kincaid finished 12th at 1:53.85.

Tyler King qualified for the B finals of the 50-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 21.29 seconds to take 16th in the prelims. He then finished in a three-way tie for 14th in the finals with a mark of 21.49 seconds.

De Goede, Ricky Dungan and Bryce Rice also competed in the prelims of the event as they finished in 35th and a tie for 47th, respectively.

Lindsey Wilson returns for day three of the NAIA National Championship tomorrow at 9amCT.
