LWC Indoor Track and Field to compete at NAIA Championships

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's indoor track & field teams compete at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships starting on Thursday at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota.

The Blue Raider men's team has two individuals competing as the women's team has two individuals competing as well. LWC is set to compete in a total of six events at the championships.



On the men's side, Jaylun Wallace competes in the 400-meter dash preliminaries on Friday at 1:25 p.m. CT. Wallace sits as the 21st seed in the event with his top time earlier this year of 49.75 which earned him a national B-cut.

The other men's competitor will be Ahumad Williams in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries which will take place on Friday at 12:50 p.m. CT. Williams will run as the 22nd seed after his 8.34 mark earlier this season, which was good enough for a national B-standard.

On the women's side, Safia Bright competes in the 60-meter dash preliminaries at 2:25pmCT on Friday and the 200-meter dash preliminaries on Friday at 4:40 p.m. CT. Bright is seeded second in the 60-meter dash after her A-cut time of 7.41 earlier this season. In the 200-meter dash, she also rolls in as the second seed with her national A time of 24.85 she accomplished this year.

Paige Pettell joins Bright as the other LWC women's athlete competing at the national championships. Pettell will throw in the weight throw at 3pmCT on Friday and the shot put at 10amCT on Saturday. Pettell is the eighth seed in the shot put after her A-cut throw this season of 13.73 meters. In the weight throw, she will throw as the 24th seed after she notched a B Standard throw of 15.91 meters this year.

Last season at the National Championships the men's team finished fourth, while the women finished 28th in the team standings.

The NAIA is providing live video and live results for the championships. Live video viewing packages can be purchased from the NAIA website.

The 2020 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships begin on Thursday at Noon CT. Lindsey Wilson begins competition on Friday at 12:50 p.m. CT, and event finals will be held on Saturday.
