Elizabeth Smith mourned by her school family

From Dr. Pamela Stephens, Adair County Public School Superintendent

Today the Adair County Schools family mourns the loss of Ms. Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth was a freshman at Adair County High School and passed away yesterday after an extended illness. As a school family we come together to support Elizabeth's family and friends in this time of loss.

Elizabeth's faith was something we could all learn from.

Throughout her illness she exhibited astonishing faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She never wavered from Him and we rejoice that her faith was such an inspiration to many.

Our staff, students, and school community extend our deepest sympathies to Elizabeth's family. Today our families, our schools and our community will all be grieving but will support and love one another.

Last night our school system began implementing our crisis response plan. Counselors will be on sight to provide counseling for our students and faculty. We ask parents to please monitor your child's behavior and let us know if you feel that your child needs to speak with someone.

May God comfort and bless Elizabeth's family, friends and loved ones in the coming days.
