LWC Archery competes this weekend in Madisonville

By Grace Blomstedt

The Lindsey Wilson archery team travels to Indoor Regionals and the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championship at the Western Kentucky Archery Complex, 3100 Grapevine Rd, Madisonville, KY.

The individual qualification rounds are set to begin at 2pmCT on Friday and Saturday, while the conference competition is set to take place all day Sunday, February 16, 2020.

"The athletes have been practicing since the day we got back from 3D nationals in October," Lindsey Wilson's archery head coach Mark Elam explained in terms of the team's preparedness for the weekend. "They have a competitive fire that's going to carry them through any hardships that may come."

As a second-year program, the talented team is still rather young, "Our goals for this weekend are pretty simple. We intend to continue to work hard on the mental aspects associated with tournament archery and to grow as a team."

Ten teams are set to participate in the MSC competition on Sunday.

Lindsey Wilson currently sits in second place in the overall team chase for the season-long conference championship after placing second in the 3D Archery Championships back in September. The Blue Raiders sit behind the Patriots of Cumberlands (Ky.) who won the 3D competition.
