An employment application is posted at www.homeplacefarmky.org.
Applications will be accepted through February 24.

By George Kolbenschlag

Homeplace on Green River is searching for its first full-time employee who will be responsible for overseeing events and programs, marketing, fund-raising and coordinating volunteers. This is a significant step forward for Homeplace and is indicative of continue growth.

The hiring is the result of an $85,000 grant provided by the Schmidt Family Foundation. If Homeplace can raise an additional $25,000 in the next 12 months, the Foundation will also match that amount.

The farm's mission is to encourage sustainable, cost-effective agriculture and to help preserve the agricultural heritage of southcentral Kentucky.

Homeplace also hosts spring and fall family-oriented festivals and variety of performances in a historic restored show barn. The farm is designated as Kentucky's Outdoor Classroom. Educational activities for school students, scouts and other groups are hosted throughout the year.

The 200+ acre property is adjacent to Taylor County's Tebbs Bend-Green River Nature Area and shares five miles of woodland, meadow and marshland trails.

Homeplace is located at 5807 New Columbia Road (Highway 55), Campbellsville, Ky, about halfway between Columbia and Campbellsville. It is a joint effort of Adair, Green and Taylor counties and is funded from grants, leasing cropland, and individual contributions.

Additional information and an employment application are posted on the Homeplace Web page at www.homeplacefarmky.org. Applications will be accepted through February 24. Questions not answered on the Web page can be emailed to Billy Joe Fudge billy.libil@gmail.com.
