LWC Baseball adds weekend road series with King

By Christopher Coombs

The Lindsey Wilson baseball team has added a weekend road series against NCAA DII opponent King (TN). The Blue Raiders and Tornado are set to play a game on Saturday, as well as a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for NoonCT as the start of Sunday's double-header will be at 11:30amCT.

Lindsey Wilson was originally scheduled to take on Saint Francis at Egnew Park this weekend but persistent weather forced the change.

The Blue Raiders (1-2) look to improve from last weekend's performance during their season opener against RV Reinhardt (GA).

Derek Zavala leads the Blue Raiders from the plate after opening the season with a batting average of .500 on 12 at-bats. Zavala has tallied six hits, three runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI's in the Blue Raiders three games played. Dillan Saunders connected on a home run against the Eagles and is one of four Lindsey Wilson players to have two RBI's this season.

Chandler Harnage comes into the matchup with King having pitched 6-1/3 innings, the most of any pitcher on the team. Andy Rosales leads the way with six strikeouts, while Josh Barnett has garnered the lowest ERA at 3.86.

King (1-2) opened their season up with a three-game road series against Anderson (S.C.) on Feb. 1-2.

Junior Renwick serves as a top threat for King from the plate, as he's garnered team-highs of 13 at-bats, eight hits, and five doubles while hitting for a .615 batting average this season. Austin Meyer has shown off power hitting for the Tornadoes, as he's blasted two home runs and accumulated six RBI's.

On the mound, Keanu Guzman leads King with six strikeouts on 3-1/3 innings pitched. Braden White has seen the most time from the bump for the Tornado, as his five innings pitched is a team-high.
