LWC Women's Basketball defeats Life 87-68 Saturday By Anthony Latessa The No. 14 ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Life (Ga.) 87-68 in a Mid-South Conference matchup on Saturday at Biggers Sport Center. Reagan Turner led the way for the Blue Raiders (19-4, 8-2 MSC) with her second double-double of the season scoring a game high 18 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. DeAsia Outlaw had 17 points, Jynea Harris scored 14 and Natalie Pierce who scored a career-high 12. Lindsey Wilson shot 42 percent from the field while Life (8-13, 1-9 MSC) shot 40 percent. The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Running Eagles 47-39 and held a 21-2 edge in second chance points. Harris scored the first four points for the Blue Raiders with a field goal and two made free throws. After a Life basket, Lindsey Wilson went on an 8-0 run increasing its lead to 12-2 with 4:26 to play in the first quarter. The Blue Raiders ended the quarter scoring 10 of the next 12 points to lead 22-6. Lindsey Wilson held a 20-9 edge in rebounds in the first quarter with 12 of them being offensive. The Blue Raiders limited the Running Eagles to just 2-of-14 shooting in the first quarter. Life opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run trimming the Lindsey Wilson lead to 22-12. The Blue Raiders responded with a 12-2 run of their own to take a 34-14 lead with 2:51 to play in the half. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the second quarter as Lindsey Wilson led 39-20 at the half. Harris led the way for the Blue Raiders with 12 points in the half while Outlaw was also in double figures with 10. Lindsey Wilson shot 33.3 percent from the field in the first half while Life shot 26.9. The two teams traded points to begin the third quarter as Lindsey Wilson's lead stayed at 19 with a score of 45-26. The Running Eagles then scored nine of the next 13 points trimming the Blue Raider lead to 49-35 with 5:31 to play in the third. A quick 6-0 run increased the Blue Raider lead to 20 at 55-35. Life responded with a 9-3 run cutting the Lindsey lead to 58-44 with 1:37 left in the third. The Blue Raiders ended the quarter on a 5-0 run to lead 63-44 heading into the fourth. Lindsey Wilson opened the fourth quarter on a 9-4 run increasing its lead to 72-48. Leading 74-53, the Blue Raiders scored the next six points to lead 80-53. Life then went on a 8-2 run trimming the Lindsey Wilson lead to 82-61. The Running Eagles closed the fourth quarter on a 7-2 run as the Blue Raiders came away with the 87-68 victory. Life had five players in double figure led by Maeisha Teasley and Tierra Tullis who each scored 14 points. Tierra Lindsey scored 12 points while Sydni Tears and Shikiya Browns had 10 apiece.
