KSP: RPD reports an officer involved shooting

Elizabethtown, KY. (January 23, 2020) - Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigates an officer involved shooting in Radcliff. On January 23, 2020 at approximately 2:45amET, the Radcliff Police Department (RPD) notified KSP Post 4 that two of their officers had been involved in an officer involved shooting and requested KSP to investigate.

The preliminary investigation revealed at approximately 2:15amET, the Radcliff Police Department was called to 101 Navaho Drive on reports of an armed robbery. Upon officers arrival they discovered an individual wielding a knife outside of the residence.



After making contact with the subject, he failed to obey the officers' repeated commands to drop the knife. The individual then charged toward two of the officers and at that time, they discharged their service weapons striking the individual multiple times.

The subject was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later flown to the University Of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two officers involved were placed on administrative leave.

RPD stated that charges are forthcoming in regards to the armed robbery. Further information will be released as it becomes available. Kentucky State Police's Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
