KSP: Four Injured in a Two Vehicle Burkesville Collision

By Tpr. Nick Hale

Burkesville, KY - Trooper Ricky Cross is investigating a two vehicle injury collision that occurred on January 17th, 2020 at approximately 9:45 PM CST on Glasgow RD, eight miles west of Burkesville, at the intersection of KY 100.

18 year old Lydia Emberton of Tompkinsville was operating a 2010 Honda west bound, around a curve, when she crossed over the center line into the path of an oncoming east bound 2016 Dodge Ram operated by 56 year old Lester Gingerich of Burkesville. Gingerich crossed into the west bound lane in an attempt to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful as Emberton steered back into the west bound lane at the same time, causing the vehicles to collide head on.

Emberton and her 19 year old passenger, Phillip Ford of Gamaliel, KY and Gingerich, along with his 15 year old passenger were all transported to Cumberland County Hospital by EMS for non-life threatening injuries.

Tpr. Cross was assisted by the Cumberland County Sheriff department, Cumberland County Emergency management, Cumberland County Fire Department and Cumberland County EMS.
